Internet trolls are the bane of any public persona’s existence. You’ve seen their nonsensical arguments in the comments section of your favorite celebrity’s latest Instagram post. You’ve noticed their unhinged remarks underneath that informational YouTube video you really connected with. You’ve cringed when people engage and argue with their illogical comments, adding jet fuel to the fire. Trolls harass people, completely derail arguments, generally just make people angry, and for what? For fun? According to Albert in The Dark Knight, “Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

But is this all that an internet troll is? On July 2nd, 2021, we invited some of our resident troll experts to the inaugural Pidgin Palace Chats to help us get to the heart of the matter. Malcolm Critcher, BRINK Content Director, Valentina Lucero, anarchist organizer, and Alex Kack (aka the (in)famous Green Shirt Guy) were joined in conversation by BRINK Foundation Board President, Josh Belhumeur, Board Vice President, Molly Ragan, and moderator, Executive Director Danny Vinik. The discussion was hosted both virtually and in person at Pidgin Palace Arts.
